There were initlal hiccups in the chase but Gautam Gambhir, with a calm head took KKR through to the next round.

Mumbai Indians on the other hand were dismal with the bat against Pune. They did bowl well, but lost wickets at regular intervals and missed a chance to qualify for the final directly. They will look for a much improved performance against a side they have beaten twice in the league stage.

India Bet Bookmaker Picks
  • Kolkata Knight Riders to win - 1.9 with bet365
  • Parthiv Patel  to top score for Mumbai Indians - 5.0 with bet365
  • Robin Uthappa to top score for Kolkata Knight Riders - 4.5 with bet365

The Mumbai Indians have lost momentum towards the business end of the tournament and will have this at the back of their mind. Parthiv Patel has often given the team a good start in the tournament and come Friday,he will be keen to continue his new found momentum. The likes of Lendl Simmons, who has replaced Jos Butler has made the most of his opportunites and will be the key member to give the team a flying start. Rohit Sharma will have to take a call between who to play between Nitish Rana and Ambati Rayudu, but he might prefer the latter as he provides stability to the middle order. The Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard have been in terrific form and will complete what is a formidable middle order.

KKR on the other hand have been vulnerable with the bat and will have to up their game to compete with a terrific bowling line up. The last time they met, KKR failed to chase down 173 as all the batsmen threw their wickets away. The likes of Gambhir, Uthappa, Lynn and Manish Pandey will hold the key as they will look to improve their disastrous record against the Mumbai Indians. Yusuf Pathan and the lower order have not been in the best of form, but they can use the long handle to good effect.

Bowling Analysis

Mumbai Indians have bowled well in the tournament so far. In both their league games against KKR, they restricted them well. The likes of Bumrah Malinga, Hardik Pandya and Karn Sharma have been good with the ball and will look to continue the momentum into the game. The form of McCleneghan has been a concern for the Mumbai Indians, but he has consistently delivered for them and will most likey retain his place. Mitch Johnson has been waiting in the wings for quite some time, but its highly unlikely that he will get a game.

KKR on the other hand will be happy that Nathan Coulter Nile has returned to form. The likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav and Sunil Narine have supported him well. Yusuf Pathan and Piyush Chawla have been terrific as well as they have managed to put pressure on the batsmen and come Friday, they will back themselves against a relatively vulnerable Mumbai Indians side.

The weather permitting, this will be a cracker of game as both sides will be eager to play the Rising Pune Supergiant on Sunday. A riveting contest awaits us.
