Ladbrokes: England out to 5/1 for ODI World Cup after series defeat

ENGLAND are out to 5/1 joint third favourites to win the forthcoming World Cup after losing the ODI series in Australia. The dismal showing in Brisbane from England's batsmen has prompted the bookies to ease Andrew Strauss's men for their trip to the sub-Continent. David Williams of Ladbrokes said: "The evidence since the New Year is that England are there for the taking. They're desperately out of form and we're eager to take them on."

England are the same price as Australia to win the trophy. India are the 7/2 favourites but Pakistan are the market movers into 8/1 following a five-figure bet struck at the weekend. "We laid a chunky bet on Pakistan at 12s and they're into single figures" added Williams.

  • 7/2 India
  • 4/1 Sri Lanka
  • 5/1 England
  • 5/1 South Africa
  • 5/1 Australia
  • 8/1 Pakistan (from 12/1)
