Cricket: 3rd ODI - Bangladesh v Pakistan Odds and Betting Preview

CHITTAGONG, BANGLADESH - Pakistan face Bangladesh on Tuesday in the final game of their three match ODI series. Pakistan have already secured victory in the series, having defeated their hosts in the first two games, but will doubtless be hoping to finish in style with another win in Chittagong. The tourists are favourites to do just that, and can currently be backed at best odds of 1/6 (bet £6 to make £1 profit) with William Hill. For those punters anticipating an upset, however, Bangladesh can be backed to win at 6/1 with Ladbrokes.

Pakistan won the second ODI by 76 runs, notching up an innings of 262 before restricting the Bangladeshi batsmen to a total of just 186. The most significant batting contribution for the tourists came from number 5 Umar Akmal, who amassed a controlled 59 from 54 balls; Akmal is currently available at 6/1 with BetVictor to be his sides most successful batsman once again on Tuesday.

The bookmakers, however, deem a number of other batsmen in the touring side to be more likely to top score than Akmal, starting with Mohammed Hafeez, who begins the match as 7/2 favourite with Boylesports. Younis Khan is the most experienced top order batsman in the Pakistani side, and is also thought likely to top score at 4/1 with Blue Square, whilst Imran Farhat is available at 9/2 with Paddy Power.

If Bangladesh are going to threaten Pakistan in the last match, then they must start by building a more substantial innings than they have been able to so far this series. The home team managed only 186 in the last game, and were bowled out for a pathetic 91 in the opening ODI. Such totals are simply not good enough to compete with their opponents, and Bangladesh will doubtless know that their top batsmen must produce better batting in their final game.

Tamim Iqbal has managed only four runs in his last two innings, but nonetheless starts Tuesday’s game as favourite to top score for Bangladesh. Iqbal is undeniably an explosive and exciting batsman, and his 9/2 odds of top scoring – currently on offer with Blue Square – reflect his quality at the crease. Iqbal’s team mate Shakib Al Hasan is also deemed to be dangerous by the bookmakers, and is currently on offer to amass the most runs for the hosts at 5/1 with Coral, whilst Imrul Kayes is available at the same odds with Ladbrokes.

Play starts at 07.30 GMT
